Update on Teach Away operations and recruitment during the COVID-19 pandemic

With COVID-19 now declared a global pandemic, we cannot help but think of all the incredible educators we know and care about around the world, including you, whom we have had the privilege to support in your education journey.

We hope that you and your loved ones are feeling safe and secure wherever you may be.

We are monitoring the situation daily

First and foremost, we care about everyone’s safety and are closely monitoring the situation and guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO), Public Health Agency of Canada, and Johns Hopkins University. Because the situation and policies vary by location, we encourage everyone to stay informed and follow the recommendations of your local health authorities.

We are still open

Our teams across our global offices are all working remotely and Teach Away is open as usual and available to support you during our regular business hours (9am – 5pm EST, Monday through Friday).

How to contact us

If you have questions regarding teaching abroad or online and our TEFL or TCP courses, you can reach us here.

What's happening with your job applications

As schools remain closed or are operating at limited capacity, you will find slower than normal response times to your teach abroad applications.

More than ever, online teaching companies are seeking teachers and we encourage you to view the available opportunities to teach English online on our job board.

Are schools abroad still hiring?
The situation varies from school to school and country to country.

Some schools are only focused on local hiring, which means they are only hiring teachers already based in their country for the upcoming school year. If you are currently in the country you would like to teach, make sure to update your location in your Teacher Profile.

Other schools are still hiring international teachers and starting with online instruction, with the hopes that they can bring over teachers as soon as it is possible and safe to do so.
