# Will my employer sponsor my common-law partner to join me overseas?

Teach abroad programs can only recognize and sponsor a teacher’s partner if you are legally married.

If your partner wishes to move abroad to live with you, they would have to look into making their own employment and visa arrangements.

Information regarding benefits for dependants is typically found in the "Job Benefits" section of any job posting. If you do not see any information listed, you can assume that sponsorship support is not offered but double-check with the school if you are invited to interview with them.
