Which countries are currently hiring international teachers amid COVID-19?

Last updated March 15, 2021

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, many countries are not accepting foreign travelers or workers. Therefore, schools in these countries are prioritizing hiring locals instead.

However, as some countries manage to control COVID-19 and vaccinate their populations, they will ease their restrictions.

Some schools are currently hiring international teachers but allowing them to teach virtually from their home countries until it is safe to travel. Also, some countries will accept candidates from regions where COVID-19 has been contained, but not accept teachers from regions still seeing a high number of active cases.

In other cases, schools are not doing remote learning but honoring contracts they make with teachers. So if you are hired but suddenly cannot travel because of new COVID-19 restrictions, the school will accept you as a teacher once you are able to travel.

One last thing to note: schools are already hiring for the next school year. While some countries are closed to international travelers or workers right now, schools are recruiting teachers now with the expectation they will be able to travel in time for the 2021 school year.
